Next meeting, Thursday November 5th. 6:30-8:30pm

Wood bot work... Chairs possibly... more info at meeting.

It is ALIVE! Next meeting, Thursday October 29th. 6:00-8:30pm

Our home built CNC routing table is working! ...Well, sort of. We still need to mount the router and fix a little snag on the Z-axis motor, but it was tested without the router and worked! With a little trouble shooting we should be able to use it this year!
We still need to hammer out 3 Adirondack chairs, but will probably start working on a wood bot(s) simultaneously to get ready for build season.

ADDRESS? ...4068B Fernandina Rd. Door at the back...

Uh oh...(update)

We are working on getting the funding reinstated through the district. Please be patient at this time. Our regular meetings will continue! smile

No Meeting on Thursday October 16th, HOWEVER, we WILL be meeting this Saturday, October 17th from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM

...hours will perhaps be plus or minus on the evening end, depending on what needs to be done and how productive we are at that time. We will be doing various things ACTUALLY RELATED TO ROBOTICS! smile We have all the parts in to finish the structural aspects of our CNC routing table, so we'll be working on that. We need some new TShirt designs, work on our goals for the next year, and oh yeah! Hedden is going to turn the place upside down to get things cleaned and organized! It's time to get ready for build season and these meetings will be precious if you don't have a clue what you're doing... CJ and Ryan (alumni) will be coming back to show newbies what it means to be on D5Robotics. So strap your boots on tight and get ready. If you can't be there the entire day, just show up for the parts you can. No penalties, no worries, but remember you get out of it what you put into it. Until Saturday...

We've got a bunch of finished chairs! smile Now we can begin to focus a bit more on robotics... We will have a shortened meeting tonight from 7 until 8:30 to start discussing the upcoming season. Cya there! Oh yeah, and we need to take a team picture with our chairs! Try to wear something robotic if you have it!

More routing table work. Meeting time will begin at 6:30PM and we'll end when we're all exhausted and have to go home, or the electronics are ready to go. Any questions, email iusorr@gmail.com... Only about $265 of hardware left to get the project done. Sounds like we need to build and sell some Adirondack chairs or possibly find a sponsor...

Great job with the car wash! Mtg Saturday June 27th 9am-1pm...ish

We have pretty much attained our goal for funding the CNC machine! We will be ordering electronics and eventually lead screws for the routing table. This next week we may be able to meet Thursday or Friday, but we will definitely be building the routing table on Saturday June 27th. Meeting time will most likely begin around 9am so that the temperature in the warehouse doesn't get too unbearable. So plan on 9am until maybe 1pm? Any questions, email iusorr@gmail.com... I'll be out of town, but not out of touch.

FIRST 2009 - Lunacy!

Yang is Back! Brainstorm in forums for what to do next please! smile AND upload media to our gallery from the competition weekend.

Great job 1293!

What a great weekend!

Thanks go out to all the D5'ers for a great job this weekend and all year. The Palmetto Regional was unforgettable for many reasons, and it didn't hurt that for the first time in our history 1293 made the quarter finals! We need everyone to take some time to submit pictures and movies to our media gallery from the competition and the great times this year that would be good for our future promotions. Please submit the best of your collective media.

We will most likely need to meet this coming week to tidy up some things at the warehouse before we continue on with some fun plans. Our next meeting will be used to discuss final financial considerations, set up some quick fund raisers, and get some gratitude projects rolling for all of our sponsors. Check back here soon for meeting dates and times.
D5! D5! D5! D5! D5! D5! D5! D5!

FIRST Kickoff - 2009 Lunacy Game!

The Kickoff to the 2009 FIRST Robotics Challenge season was January 3rd at Clemson University. Watch the kickoff via the web at FIRST's website. The team has begun the wonderful experience of brainstorming, planning, designing, fabricating, marketing, practicing, and competing! Please join us!

What is D5 Robotics?

D5 Robotics is a collaboration of the three Lexington District Five high schools Chapin, Dutch Fork, and Irmo (hence the title D5 Robotics). The schools have, in the spirit of cooperation and innovation that characterizes everything FIRST-related, put aside their rivalries to form what may be understated as an amazing robotics team. Members from all involved schools attend the meetings and contribute to the team in a variety of ways. They are given the opportunity to specialize on something within the team, but all eventually try their hand at every job for the full robotics experience. We are also now a Non-Profit 501(c)3 based group, thanks to the Irmo Education Foundation!

Students are guided by experienced professionals in fields of science, technology, and engineering. These mentors volunteer their time to teach students (their future co-workers) skills needed in the real world for their fields, as well as showing them (while experiencing them yet again) the reasons why they chose engineering as a profession.

The team works on various projects in robotics, animation, marketing, philanthropy, and community enhancement, and more! All are welcome!

If you are a student, parent, or community member looking to be a mentor with our team and want to get involved, please sign up for an account on the forum and introduce yourself. This forum is the main way we communicate with our team. It also has most information that you may need. Thanks for the interest!

If you are a potential or current sponsor and need to speak with someone, please email Stephen Orr.

Cub Scout pack meeting and new team photo! October 20th

Posted 10-18-08 by Stephen Orr

D5 Robotics Team 1293 will be presenting at our local cub scout pack meeting Monday, Oct. 20th at Faith Presbyterian Church just past Ballentine. Please come help us load up at the warehouse at 5:00pm. If you can't make it to load up just meet us at the meeting and remember to wear your team shirt for the new team photo! We will only present for about 20 or 30 minutes, then we'll go outside to do our team picture and be available for questions after the meeting is over. I believe the meeting is scheduled from 6:30pm to 8:00 pm. We'll also need some help afterward to get everything back to the warehouse.
