Join D5 Robotics!

Welcome to the team!

The 2010 season starts January 5th with a Pre Kickoff meeting! check the calendar and view detail of the meeting for the place and time. This year's game? Who knows! But we'll find out at the kickoff on January 9!
We can tell you we have a brand new, home made 3d routing cnc table that we are excited to use to build custom parts this year. We can also tell you be careful getting involved with this team because it is infectious. You will have fun, and you will learn. No prior knowledge is necessary to get involved and everyone who comes is valuable to the team. You have ideas and energy we can use.

Understand that all of us are here as a resource for you! This primer was created to give you clues as to how to get in tune with what we'll be doing this year on Team 1293. You'll get much more than you realize out of D5Robotics, but to do that you'll have to do a lot of thinkin', a lot of playin' and a lot of workin'!

  1. Check out usfirst.org to see what we will be doing and get your feet wet.
  2. Go to AndyMark before looking too far and become familiar with some of their basic parts. Just about all of the FIRST robots out there uses something from them...
  3. In order to learn about the systems we deal with there is an unbelievable forum online called Chief Delphi. You will want to register, do some poking around.
Start by searching the following teams for robot pictures, designs, etc: frc118, frc148, frc342, frc1902, frc1114, frc1771, frc1251, frc34, etc.
It would be a good idea to actually goto these teams' websites as well. Just google or youtube 'em...
  4. A new site that will be utilized by the all the peeps this year is Autodesk's FIRSTBase. You should go register there too and join up with our team's group. Again, team 1293! All sorts of free design software, worth thousands of dollars, are available to you via this website! Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD for CADing, 3D Studio Max and Maya for animating, Labview... a ton of stuff! This is a gold mine for people designing robots, or just about anything, come to think of it.

And remember... If you have any questions, just ask!
