2007 Robot: Atlas

After deciding that the treads on this bot would move the world instead of moving the bot itself, it was thusly named: Atlas.

'Upon our chassis, D5 added a large forklift mast style lift system and a pneumatic gripper to grab the rings for the game. We designed an outrageous tank tread drive that was easily removed with just 4 bolts per side for quick repairs if needed. The robot's extreme traction treads hindered our turning ability on the carpeted playing field and was slowed down as well by an oversight in the program, keeping it in low speed, but D5 played well in spite of the difficulties. This year there was no autonomous dancing or ramming of other team's robots. We were being considered to go into the play offs but our exposed motors took a beating in the robotic rambles. We were out for the count on our slow speed with our transmissions bent.
